Idioms and Death (( الامثال المتعلقه بكلمات الموت في اللغه الانجليزيه)
According to Merriam Webster dictionary,Idiom is : an expression in the usage of a language that is peculiar to itself either in having a meaning that cannot be derived from the conjoined meanings of its elements (such as up in the air for "undecided") or in its grammatically atypical use of words (such as give way).That means you use some words,but you mean something else.We are going to list some idioms related to death

1) Between life and death (بين الحياه والموت)
You use this expression when you want to talk about dangerous situations.Perhaps,you are talking about getting killed or died,so you use this expression when you are in real danger.
Ex:
She had a terrible car accident.She is between life and death.
He fell down from the third floor.He is between life and death.
2)At death's door (رجله والقبر)
You use this expression when you find someone is about to die,so when you say that someone is at death's door,you mean this one is close to death.
Ex:
Mariam got Covid 19 .She is ar death's door.
Although he is at death's door,He keeps smoking.
3)Dead and Buried (مات واتدفن خلاص)
You use this expression when you are talking about something old and no longer used.Sometimes, you use this expression when you are talking about old topics which there is no need to talk about.
Ex:
Coal trains are dead and buried now.
Do not talk about this topic again.It is dead and buried.
4)Dead right (صح اوي)
you use this idiom when you are talking about someone is extremely correct .
Ex:
Alexa: I think Donal Trump will destroy the united States.
John:You are dead right.
I can not believe what happened .You were dead right about that.
5) Breathe one's last (يلفظ انفاسه الاخيره)
you can use this expression when you want to say someone dies.
Ex:
He breathed his last in the battle.What a great man !!
After long fighting with cancer,she breathed his last in the hospital.
6)Dead to the world ( ده نايم كانه في غيبوبه)
You use this expression when want to talk about someone sleeps a lot .He is asleep and unconscious .
Ex:
Alexa: Where Was Mike ?
John: Mike slept all night and was still dead to the world when I came in.
7) Dice with death (علي كف عفريت)
You use this Expression when you want to talk about someone does something risky and very dangerous.Perhaps,this thing will lead him to death.
Ex:
Do not worry about John in this situation .John is a soldier.He dices with death.
Mike works without taking care of security system.He dices with death.
8)kiss of death (جائت الرياح بلا لا تشتهي السفن)
we use this idiom when we want to talk about something is good,preferable and we think it is better for us,but it is the opposite.It ruins hopes,plans and agreements.
Ex:
His new job was a kiss of death for his freedom.
You are deceiving yourself.Wake up!!It is kiss of death.
