Rather /I'd rather/Rather than

Rather

   The word  rather has three uses.

1)
rather means quite.
Ex:
 Mariam worked all the day .She is rather exhausted.
i.e She is rather exhausted. =She is quite exhausted.

2)

I 'd rather + infinitive
we use  this expression (I 'd rather) when we want to say I prefer to do something .It is always followed by infinitive.
Ex:
I 'd rather go to school because it helps me to keep fit

3)
I 'd rather +infinitive +Than +infinitive.
We use this expression when we want do something,and we do not  want to do something else .
Ex:

  I want to study English,but I do not want study math 
                                        =
